4 MONTHS that will change the way you look at farming.
We work hard... moving, feeding, and watering the animals, cleaning eggs, processing chickens, building and maintaining infrastructure, making deliveries, helping customers in the Farm Store, record keeping, meeting other farmers, and more. Interns come to Whiffletree ready to learn, and leave our farm equipped to start their own!
Our Typical Workweek

April - July
August - November

FARM. MANAGE. NETWORK.
What Interns Learn
FARM-- Interns will become versed in all the pertinent farming practices of raising our animals, with exposure to all the animal work on a daily basis.
MANAGE-- Interns gain exposure to how we operate (business, marketing, customer service, record keeping, sourcing, etc.)
NETWORK-- Because we source from a diverse group of farming friends who are raising what we do not, interns have exposure to many knowledgeable people and farms.
Who We're Looking For
Candidates must be 18 years of age and have an excellent attitude and great work ethic. We are looking for a person who is cheerful, tidy, professional, honest, very willing to receive constructive criticism and desires to do the work excellently and quickly. No farming experience is required.

HOW to APPLY
Applications are received on an ongoing basis. Please email us at email@example.com
Interns receive a stipend of $800/month, and $800 bonus for completing the full 4 months.
Food & Housing
Interns purchase and cook their own food, but we have communal breakfast 3 days a week. We offer 2 accommodations to interns:
THE APARTMENT-- Our single-sex intern apartment is a finished space in the back of our historic Carriage Museum that is shared with 2-3 other interns. It is insulated, dry, has windows, shower, washer and drier, kitchen with stove, fridge, sink, dishwasher, and wood-stove.
THE COTTAGE-- Our single-sex intern cottage fits 1-2 people and has a shower/sink, stove, fridge, dishwasher, and kitchen sink.
Breaks & Days Off
Interns receive 45 minute breaks for breakfast and lunch, and 2 days off per week. So an intern is working 5 days/week with the equivalent of two full days off. Work that happens in the evening (most often loading chickens) is made up for with longer breaks in the afternoon. Interns get 4 vacation days during the 4 months. We ask that you give us 2 weeks or more notice for our planning purposes.
